Jorey Garcia

Coach

  • Jorey Garcia is a Salvadorian/Dominican Republic-American born and raised in Great Neck, New York. His father, Jose Luis Garcia, a former Salvadoran professional soccer player, has mentored him throughout his whole soccer career. At the youth level, he played for Albertson Academy when they played in the USSF Development Academy where he got the chance to play against MLS Academies
  • Jorey went on to play collegiately for SUNY Old Westbury and Hofstra. During his collegiate career, he also had the chance to represent the El Salvador National Team where he competed to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Garcia also had a stint with C.D. Aguila in 2021.
  • Currently Jorey is the President and Director of Coaching for the Westbury Youth Soccer Club, Jorey  has earned a USSF “D” License and all USSF Grassroot Licenses. Through his vision for the club, Jorey Garcia has been successful in mentoring his team players to reach their best selves and win many important titles.

 

 

Sergio Valencia

Coach

  • Throughout his professional soccer career, Sergio “Chele”

Valencia participated in the 3rd Division, 2nd Division, and 1st Division in El Salvador. He played in ADET, CD Tiburones, and CD Aguila. After retiring as a soccer player, Valencia obtained his first certificate as a Soccer Coachissued by the LIJSL & NSCAA. In 2001, he founded the New York Latin Soccer Academy (NYSLA).

  • Over the years, Valencia became deeply involved with various organizations, including NYSLA, HEMPSTEAD EOC SC, FC NEW YORK (USL Pro Club), and served as a scout for the NY State ODP. His amazing accomplishments include 42 Division Titles from LIJSL, 3 Division Titles from EDP, 20 Tournament Titles, and 11 Sportsmanship Winner plaques
  • Valencia has also obtained the USSF B National Coach License and NSCAA DOC License. He is renowned for his dedication to training athletes for high-level competitions, focusing on organized and tactical gameplay to maximize each player’s potential.

Juan A. Velasco

Coach

  • Juan A. Velasco is a highly experienced Goalkeeper Coach hailing from Colombia. With over 24 years of coaching experience across various soccer clubs, including both professional and amateur teams, as well as State programs, such as the Franklin Square Soccer Club. From 2014 to 2015, he was a Goalkeeper Coach for the New York Cosmos. Velasco has honed his skills to become a respected figure in the world of soccer coaching.
  • Velasco’s expertise extends to the college level, where he has been involved in both management and coaching roles. He is also a ‘D’ license Instructor and holds important certifications such as USSF Goalkeeper Coaching, USSF ‘B’ License, and the NSCAA State license.
  • His passion for soccer is evident in his commitment to teaching the essence of teamwork and sportsmanship to young players, contributing to the development of the Westbury community and emphasizing the importance of sports in society.

Nick Espinosa

Coach

  • Nick Espinosa, originally from Bogota, Colombia, is a lifelong soccer enthusiast. Aside from playing varsity soccer, he also participated in varsity football. Espinosa has been involved in coaching soccer since his early 20s but had to take a break due to the demands of his 9-5 job as an Investment Advisor. However, with his children older and his day job more flexible, he was able to return to coaching over 10 years later.
  • Espinosa has obtained his U.S. Soccer D and C licenses. He manages an Intramural soccer program with East Meadow PAL and serves as the head coach of the W.T Clarke H.S. Varsity boys soccer team.
  • Espinosa has always maintained that soccer is the most intricate sport because of the chaos on the field. With 22 players constantly switching between offense and defense on a 100×60 field, the potential combinations of variables are limitless. It presents the ultimate challenge for a coach to guide players to make effective decisions. He takes pleasure in working with his team, which had minimal understanding of the game just a year ago and has demonstrated amazing development.

Jose mercado

Coach

  • Jose Mercado is a Mexican-American Soccer Coach from Hempstead, New York. His love of soccer began at the age of 6 from learning that wins and especially losses make a soccer player. Mercado’s soccer career also started at the age of 6 in the NYSLA Uniondale Soccer Academy and moved on to Garden City Park Eagles United, and Boca Juniors Academy. From 6 to 18 years old, his youth revolved around soccer.
  • Jose  has earned a USSF “D” License and all USSF Grassroot Licenses. During his time with the club he has overseen many Pre-Travel, Travel, and Intramural groups.
  • As a WYSC Coach, Mercado admires his soccer teams’ willingness to take the extra step to improve. Jose Mercado strives to give his full attention to improving his players’ skills to achieve their best potential.

Jefferson Mejicano Cruz

Coach

  • Jefferson Mejicano Cruz is a Salvadorian-American born and raised in New York. His soccer career started at Hempstead EOC Tigers, then Barca Academy NY, and then Valencia CF Academy NY.
  • Mejicanos has earned 3 USSF Grassroot Licenses.. He currently coaches Travel U12 Teal Dragons, Pre-Travel U7 Black Dragons, Pre-Travel U8 Navy Dragons, and Intramural groups.
  • He finds joy in the atmosphere created by the teamwork and thrill of competition his soccer players bring.
  • Mejicano makes a positive impact on his players’ lives by nurturing their skills, building their confidence, and helping them develop as athletes and individuals.

Adrian Astudillo

Coach

  • Adrian Astudillo is a Mexican-Chilean raised in Port Washington, New York. He had the opportunity to be part of various soccer clubs such as Uniondale, Mineola Portuguese, the Albertson Academy, and Hota Bavarians.
  • He was a 3-year Varsity Soccer player and earned the titles, Nassau County Champion 2018 and Long Island Champion 2018. Astudillo has also earned USSF Grassroot Licenses. He currently coaches the U11 Orange Dragons and Intramural groups. Astudillo is a recent graduate from Nassau Community College and currently pursuing a degree in Business at Baruch College.
  • Adrian Astudillo is delighted to be part of the club to encourage improvement in aspiring soccer players.

Paul Drago

Coach

  • Paul Drago is a dedicated WYSC Coach from Hicksville, New York. His passion for soccer began at a young age, and he has been involved in organized club soccer from the age of 6 through high school. Even today, he continues to play recreationally.
  • Drago is not only a soccer enthusiast but also a physical education and health education teacher. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from SUNY Cortland and is currently pursuing his Master of Science in Health Sciences.
  • With a U.S. Soccer Grassroots certification, Drago serves as the co-head coach for the Westbury U7 Aqua Dragons. He also assists coaching the Westbury U9 White Dragons.
  • In his first year at the WYSC, Drago has emphasized strategy, unification, responsibility, and dedication within his coaching, believing that cohesion and shared goals are essential for the team’s success.
  • He values the strong bond he shares with his players, fostered through their collective hard work and enjoyable experiences on the field. His time coaching for WYSC has been an absolute pleasure, and he looks forward to what the future holds.

Michael Constantinescu

Coach

  • Michael Constantinescu is a dedicated soccer coach from Hicksville, NY. Constantinescu participated in organized club soccer from a young age through high school, including varsity soccer. He also continues to play competitively in co-ed leagues.
  • Two USSF Grassroot Licenses through U.S. Soccer Grassroots, Constantinescu is passionate about sharing his love for soccer with the younger generation. Constantinescu is currently the co-head coach for the U7 Aqua Dragons and assists in coaching the Westbury U9 White Dragons. He finds joy in working with his teams, as they display unwavering determination, coachability, and great personalities.
  • As a first-year WYSC Coach, he has made great progress with both Travel teams and hopes to continue helping the young generation of soccer players reach their best potential.

Gonzalo de Jesús Perdomo Joya

Coach

  • Gonzalo de Jesús Perdomo Joya is an Intramural Program Coach for the WYSC. Originally from El Salvador, he has an extensive background in soccer.
  • Joya has played for various teams including Juvenile CD Col. Flores, CD Azul y Blanco, the High School team of Instituto Nacional de Usulutan, and the University team Capitan General Gerardo Barrios de Usulutan in El Salvador. He also contributed to the success of CD Vencedor of the 3a Division in Santa Elena Usulutan.
  • Joya currently holds coaching certifications two USSF Grassroot Licenses. He is passionate about helping children and young people develop their skills and learn healthy discipline.
  • He values the opportunity to contribute his knowledge to the WYSC Intramural program and is dedicated to fostering a positive and educational environment for all players.
