Intramurals

The Intramural program is for new incoming players that have not been exposed to the sport of soccer before. Intramural players work on the fundamentals of soccer with emphasis on individual development. Our coaches prioritize drills that develop skills and abilities in dribbling, passing, and shooting. The Westbury Youth Soccer Club implements the United States Soccer Federation’s Play-Practice-Play Curriculum for the Intramural Program. Player Development is very important for the club to develop our children into high level soccer players so that they can move on to our Pre-Travel and Travel Team’s. Our intramural program is our initial program and foundation in the Westbury Youth Soccer Club Development Pyramid.

*Play-Practice-Play is a program based on maximizing the child’s time at practice. A child will develop the important fundamental abilities and rules of the game. *

Pre-Travel

The Pre-Travel program is our intermediate program for U7 and U8 players who have a general understanding of the sport and are the most advanced participants in our intramural programs, but still need some more training and guidance before they enter a travel team. The players on the Pre-Travel program get a sense of competition in a positive environment competing against teams from other towns. The Pre-Travel Teams participate in the Long Island Junior Soccer League Player Development Initiatives (P.D.I.) and Club Development Program.

Travel

The Travel program is our most advanced program for U9-U19 players. Our travel teams participate in the Long Island Junior Soccer League, and they are challenged and pushed to their full potential. Being on a Travel Team is a full year commitment. Players attend every practice, game, and tournament, where they learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline. Also, players refine their already advanced soccer skills and start to work on the strategy of the sport.

Winter Indoor League

During the winter, our players have the opportunity to participate in indoor leagues to continue their soccer training while off season. They practice during the week indoors and compete with other teams within their age group. Players are able to keep up and progress their soccer skills, while competing.
